"Earth and Sensuality"  - Monica's pictures

Anghiari - (pf) Monica Arellano-Ongpin will be showing some of her pictorial works at the  Circolo Artistico of Arezzo, on the Corso Italia N.108, from the 27 July till the 4 August.

"Earth and Sensuality" is the title of this one-man show, which suggests the thread that unites landscapes, portraits and still-lifes of this cosmopolitan artist, born in Chile, who has lived in the Philippines, New York and half a dozen world cities, but now firmly planted in an old country house between Anghiari and Arezzo.
The show includes oils, drawings and drypoint etchings.

Exhibit of works by Monica Arellano

At the Circolo Artistico "Earth and Sensuality"

Arezzo - (ab.) At the gallery of the Circolo Artistico, on the Corso Italia n.108, Monica Arellano-Ongpin presents the exhibition "Earth and Sensuality".

The artist, whose background is in the humanities, has for some time cultivated her interest and passion for the pictorial language, attending important art schools in New York, London and France. Residing now in Arezzo, she lives in a rustic country house on the hills between the Tiber and the Arno valleys.
The gallery is full of faces and figures, placed in different ways, finely composed, and often off centre which, paradoxically, gives them greater emphasis against the anonimity of the rest of the painting. The artist presents and offers emotional experiences, with perfect technique, like the controlled inventions of her landscapes, and uses realistic representation, taken from life, to celebrate life, to give it a meaning both concrete and profoundly intimate. Arellano presents about 50 works, the majority of them oils of dazzling forms and colours, landscapes and female nudes caressed by lights that play with the skin, and that are yet respectful of the balance of serenity and luminosity in the research of understanding the spirit through the flesh. The drawings are quick lines indicative of an extreme formal elegance.
